PROGRAM:

Featuring Franz Schubert's masterful Rondo Brillant for Violin and Piano in B Minor and Antonin Dvorák's Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat Major, Op. 87 performed by internationally acclaimed artists Aaron Boyd - DCMS Board President - Masumi Per Rostad, Christopher Adkins and Korkmaz Can Sağlam.

- AARON BOYD, violin 

Violinist Aaron Boyd has established an international career as soloist, chamber musician, orchestral leader, recording artist, lecturer and educator. Since making his New York recital debut in 1998, Boyd has appeared at the most prestigious venues throughout the United States, Europe, Russia and Asia and has collaborated with members of the Juilliard, Guarneri, Orion, Tokyo and Emerson Quartets, the Beaux Arts Trio, Phillippe Entremont, Mitsuko Uchida, Anner Bylsma, Lynn Harrell, Cho-Liang Lin, Wu Han and David Finckel.

- MATTHEW SINNO, viola (replacing Masumi Per Rostad)

Matthew Sinno, a Massachusetts native, joined the Dallas Symphony Orchestra as Associate Principal Viola during the 2021/22 season. Prior to that he served as Associate Principal and Acting Principal Viola with the Kansas City Symphony. Mr. Sinno has also performed with the New York Philharmonic, Philadelphia Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra as a substitute player. Mr. Sinno received both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, as well as a Post-Bacclaureate Diploma from the Curtis Institute of Music. His primary instructors include Toby Appel, Heidi Castleman, Roberto Diaz and Cynthia Phelps.

- CHRISTOPHER ADKINS, cello 

Christopher Adkins joined the Dallas Symphony in 1987. He previously served in principal positions with the Milwaukee, New Haven and Denver symphonies. A native of Denton, Texas, Adkins holds degrees from the University of North Texas and Yale University. Adkins also studied with former Dallas Symphony Principal Cello, Lev Aronson. As a member of the contemporary music ensemble, Voices of Change, Adkins was nominated for a Grammy Award for the recording Voces Americanas. He also serves as adjunct Associate Professor of music at the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Adkins is married to Dallas Symphony violinist Alexandra Adkins.

- KORKMAZ CAN SAGLAM, piano

Turkish pianist Korkmaz Can Sağlam is the Grand Prize winner of the 2021-2022 Vendome Prize for Piano, where he also won the CD Recording Prize and the Audience Prize. Can Sağlam has performed in concert halls such as the Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall, Morgan Library & Museum’s Gilder Lehrman Hall in New York, Wiener Saal in Salzburg, Verbrugghen Hall in Sydney and in other venues in cities such as Paris, Nice, Brussels, Cleveland, Verona and Istanbul. He has appeared in festivals such as the Gümüşlük Classical Music Festival, Antalya Piano Festival and Bellapais Music Festival. This season, he will appear at the 2024 Sydney Festival and in concerts in Canberra and Melbourne as the winner of The Rex Hobcroft People’s Choice Prize at the Sydney International Piano Competition, as well as in concerts with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by James Judd and New Manhattan Sinfonietta conducted by Gürer Aykal.
